The Right Place To Start
You do not need to know whether you need physiotherapy, rehabilitation, coaching or a combination of services before you arrive.
Every new client begins with the same thorough process: a 90-minute Initial Consultation designed to understand where you are now, what you want to achieve and what level of support will be most useful.
From there, we recommend a plan shaped around you—not a standard pathway or compulsory membership.
Everyone starts with a 90-minute consultation
Whether you want to improve your movement, rebuild confidence, become stronger or maintain your physical capacity for the years ahead, your journey at Hurdle Health begins with a 90-minute Initial Consultation.
This gives us the time to understand you properly, assess what matters and recommend the most appropriate next steps — without guesswork or generic solutions.

1. Subjective Assessment & Goal Setting
We take time to understand:
-
Your health, activity and training history
-
What currently feels difficult or limited
-
The activities that matter most to you
-
What you would like to return to, maintain or build towards
-
The practical barriers that may affect your progress

2. Movement, Strength & Capacity Assessment
Your physical assessment is tailored to your individual goals and may explore:
-
How you move and respond to physical demands
-
Strength, balance, mobility and movement patterns
-
Your confidence with particular movements or activities
-
Functional measures connected to everyday life, work or exercise
-
Your current physical capacity and potential starting points
We assess what is useful. We do not collect information or perform tests unless they will help guide your plan.

3. Clear Explanation & Insight
We explain our findings in straightforward language so that you leave understanding:
- Where you are starting from
-
Which areas are most important to address
-
What you are already doing well
-
What is likely to help you make progress
-
What does not need unnecessary concern or overattention
Our goal is to give you clarity and confidence — not make movement or exercise feel more complicated.

4. A Personalised Plan
Before you leave, we will outline:
-
The outcomes we recommend working towards
-
The most appropriate type of support
-
A realistic level and frequency of contact
-
What you can work on independently
-
How and when your progress should be reviewed
Our role is not to move every client into the same package.
Our role is to prescribe the most appropriate plan based on your goals, confidence, capacity and preferred level of support.
Price: £95
The Initial Consultation is designed to provide value in its own right. It gives you a thorough assessment, a clearer understanding of your starting point and a recommended plan.
There is no obligation to commit to ongoing coaching or purchase a package afterwards.

What happens after the initial consultation?
There is no single pathway that every client must follow.
The right option depends on how much support you need, how independently you can follow your plan and what is practical for your lifestyle and budget.
Your recommendation may include one or more of the following:
Independent Action & Occasional Review
For some people, the Initial Consultation provides enough clarity and direction to begin working independently.
You may return when you need your progress reviewed, your programme updated or your next stage planned.
Physiotherapy & Flexible Rehabilitation
You may benefit from individual physiotherapy appointments or a flexible rehabilitation package.
Appointments might initially be closer together and then become less frequent as your function, confidence and independence improve.
They do not automatically need to take place every week.
Hybrid Programme Support
Our hybrid pathway provides a structured programme with planned professional input while allowing you to complete most of your training independently.
This may include:
-
A personalised programme created after your consultation
-
Independent training between reviews
-
A six-week check-in and programme update
-
A final review at week 12
-
A discussion about the most appropriate next steps
This option is suited to people who want professional structure and accountability but do not require regular supervised sessions.
One-to-One or One-to-Two Coaching
Regular coaching may be appropriate when you would benefit from greater supervision, accountability and structured progression.
Sessions can focus on developing:
-
Strength
-
Fitness
-
Movement confidence
-
Physical capacity
-
Resilience for everyday life
-
Confidence training independently
Coaching is normally delivered regularly, with the recommended frequency based on your goals and the support you need.
Support that can change as you progress
The appropriate level of support may change over time.
You may begin with closer guidance before moving towards greater independence. You may complete a defined period of rehabilitation and then transition into coaching. You may move from regular sessions into hybrid support or occasional reviews.
Some clients work with us for a specific period. Others value longer-term coaching, accountability and progression.
Neither pathway is automatically considered better.
The aim is to keep you at the level of support that is most appropriate for your current needs.
What we do differently.

It is important to be clear about whether our approach is right for you.
At Hurdle Health:
-
We take time to assess and understand you properly
-
We use exercise, education and progressive physical activity as central parts of our approach
-
We connect physiotherapy, rehabilitation and strength coaching rather than treating them as unrelated services
-
We recommend the amount of support that is appropriate for the individual
-
We plan towards greater function, confidence and independence
-
We reassess progress and adapt the plan when needed
-
We do not keep people attending appointments without a clear purpose
We do not routinely provide:
-
Predominantly passive or hands-on-only treatment
-
Generic exercise programmes
-
Drop-in workouts without assessment or direction
-
Identical pathways for every client
-
Unnecessary ongoing appointments that do not support a defined goal
Hurdle Health is best suited to people who want to take an active role in their long-term health and physical capability.
